Looking to make a little more money on each transaction at the farmers market or produce stand? Then, take a look at our CAS S2000JR Price Computing scale with dual range capacity. The dual range capacity of this legal for trade scale can make you a little extra cash on each transaction. Lets see how.

In this case we will look at the traditional standard 30 x 0.01 lb scale versus the 0-15 x 0.005 lb / 15-30 lb x 0.01 lb dual range CAS Model. We’ll weigh the same item and it will have the same price per pound. See example below.

Standard ……………………………………… CAS S2000JR
0.01 scale……………………………………. 0.005 lb scale
$8.99 ……… Price Per Pound …………….. $8.99
0.90 lb …….. Weight registered ………….. 0.905 lb
$8.09 ….. Amount Your Customer Pays….. $8.14
——————————————————————————-
Result: 5 cents extra on this transaction

Now, multiply your 5 cents by 100 transactions a day = $5
Finally, multiply your $5 gain per day times 365 days = $1825

With this example, you can easily see how a dual range scale can provide you with higher accuracy and put a lot more money in your pocket.

There will soon be a new rule regarding an integral part of USDA’s efforts to educate consumers about nutrition. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced recently that it will be making important nutritional information readily available to consumers on 40 of the most popular cuts of meat and poultry products. Under a new rule, packages of ground or chopped meat and poultry will feature nutrition facts panels on their labels. Additionally, whole, raw cuts of meat and poultry will also have nutrition facts panels either on their package labels or available for consumers at the point-of-purchase. The nutrition facts panels will include the number of calories and the grams of total fat and saturated fat a product contains. FSIS does not believe that it has underestimated the costs of the final rule. Since the Supplemental Proposed Rule Regulatory Impact Analysis was done, the total costs of labeling may have even decreased because of more cost-effective technology, such as less expensive computerized flexography and scale-label printers. The additional costs of labeling would be relatively low for the affected businesses. One trade association and the food marketing organization asserted that allowing the use of point-of-purchase materials will reduce the financial burden on retailers and benefit consumers. However, others state that FSIS underestimated the cost of providing nutrition labels on ground and chopped products and believe FSIS did not account for the number of retailers that would have to buy new printer or scale systems at the store level. Read the entire summary here.

Sometimes there are ideas or reasons for changing what works. Maybe you are looking to improve a product or change something to lower the cost of an item. When it comes to the CAS LP1000 price computing scale with printer sometimes it is best to use the reliable proven scale. The LP1000 continues to be one of the more popular label printing scales on the market. Customers have been asking for this specific model for years. The scale is a very good scale and the labels are easy to purchase.

One note to consider, if you are just looking for a simple label with weight and price, you may want to consider something like the CAS S2000 JR price computing scale. However, if you are looking for a legal for trade printing scale that can print ingredients or have built in Price look ups, the LP1000 is the scale for you.

What capacity do I need? My old scale had a 30 lb capacity, do I need a 30 lb capacity on my new model? What does the 0.01 lb mean?

These are just a few of the questions that folks ask when purchasing a retail price computing scale. Basically, the easiest thing to do is determine what is the typical weight amount you are going to be weighing. For most people that amount usually falls well below 30 pounds. However, there are times when you may need a larger capacity like 60 pounds. When that happens, it’s great to have a scale like the CAS S2000 JR price computing scale. The 60 lb model features a 60 lb max capacity with 0.02 lb readability. However, this same scale also features the same readability up to 30 lbs that a typical retail scale with 30 lb. capacity would have, 0.01 lbs. So, you get the best of both worlds in one scale.

CAS S2000JR60L NTEP legal for trade 60 lb. price computing scale features AC and rechargeable battery power, serial port, LCD display and is ideal weighing choice for everything from fudge and chocolate shoppes selling candy by the pound to local farmers market produce stands selling vegetables and fruit by the price per pound.

The S-2000 JR scales feature a “dual range” capacity. This is a nice feature that means you get increased readability that you probably wouldn’t get on most other price computing scales. For example on a 60 pound capacity price computing scale from most other manufacturers, the scale will increment up/down from zero to 60 pounds in 0.02 lb increments. The 60 lb. S2000 JR displays weight from zero to 30 lbs in increments up/down in 0.01 lbs. Then from 30 to 60 lbs, the scale will increment up/down in 0.02 lb increments. Add a DLP-50 label printer and you have an affordable price computing scale with label printer.

CAS Corporation model S-2000Jr. is a general purpose price computing scale for direct sale of commodities in stores such as: supermarkets, delicatessens and groceries. This scale has an eternal lb/kg conversion switch. The scale has dual markings and the lb/kg switch changes enunciators for proper indications. Tare weight may be entered using: platter tare, key board tare and tare programmed with a PLU.

The scale features a choice of LCD or VFD Displays, Stainless Steel Platter, 1/2lb And 1/4lb Keys where allowed, 3 Direct PLU’s & 199 Indirect PLU’s and choice of Optional Pole Display. Battery power is available with LCD models but is NOT available with VFD models. Max capacities include 15 lb, 30 lb or 60 lb in either VFD or LCD with or without pole.

The overwhelming feature of the S2000JR is the serial interface that easily allows for printing labels with the optional label printer. The label information that is printed is the very basic info, but in a lot of cases, that is all users really need.
