What is the best farmers market scale?

As the title suggests this article is going to focus on one topic. What is the best farmers market scale? This can be a tough choice since there are many good choices in the market place. Often the same brands and models rise to the top year after year.

I decided to do some research and look at past sales and how reliable certain scales have been over the past year. After doing that, the conclusion that I have come to is simple. If you are looking for a durable product that is going to last you for many years, the ideal choice is probably going to be the RE15US. This scale has a long history of being the industry benchmark for digital price computing scales. As far back as I can remember we have been selling this style of retail scale. The original item that I can remember was the old Toledo 8433 scale. Then it was replaced by the Mettler Toledo Tiger II with its sleek and modern style. Finally, the Tiger was replaced by the Mettler Toledo XRT-3710. Then, when MT decided to change their marketing strategy, they moved this retail scale over to the Ohaus distribution side but the scale itself looks almost identical to the old XRT.

As a matter of fact, my family recently went to a pick your own strawberries farm last week and we bought the strawberries by the pound and the lady behind the counter was using an old XRT-3710 scale. As the years have gone by cheaper models have entered the market and certainly have taken some of the market share away from this once dominant product. Ultimately, I believe this scale will slowly start to gain back some market share and consumers will long for a reliable high quality retail scale and not just the cheapest scale they can find (and replace each year).
